1.9 Configuring RSPAN
Remote switched port analyzer (RSPAN) breaks through the limitation that the
monitored port and the monitoring port have to be on the same switch. It permits the
monitored port and the monitoring port to be located across multiple devices in the
network, thus enables easy management on remote switches.

The following three types of switches implements the RSPAN function:
z Source switch: The switch where the monitored port is located
z Intermediate switch: A switch that is located between the source and destination
switches in the network
z Destination switch: The switch where the remote destination monitoring port is
located

Table 1-16.
