Powering
O an EX9200 Switch
Before you power o the switch:
• Ensure that you understand how to prevent electrostac discharge (ESD) damage. See
Prevenon of
Electrostac Discharge Damage
.
Ensure that you have the following parts and tools available to power o the switch:
• An ESD wrist strap
• An external management device such as a PC
• A cable to connect the external management device to the console port (CONSOLE) or management
port (<...>) on the primary Roung Engine module (RE module).
To power o the switch:
1. Connect a management console device to the primary RE module. For informaon about connecng
a management device to the console (CONSOLE) port, see
Connecng an EX9200 Switch to a
Management Console or an Auxiliary Device
. For informaon about connecng a management
device to the Ethernet management (<...>) port, see
Connecng an EX9200 Switch to a Network for
Out-of-Band Management
.
2.
On the external management device connected to the Roung Engine, issue the request system halt
both-routing-engines operaonal mode command. The command shuts down the Roung Engines
cleanly, so their state informaon is preserved. (If the switch contains only one Roung Engine, issue
the request system halt command.)
For more informaon about these commands, see the Junos OS Operaonal Mode Commands.
3. Wait unl a message appears on the console conrming that the operang system has halted.
4. Wrap and fasten one end of the ESD wrist strap around your bare wrist, and connect the other end
of the strap to the ESD point on the switch.
