STEEL BALLS
Apply SUZUKI SUPER GREASE “A” to the steering races
when installing the upper and lower steel balls.

STEERING STEM
Tighten the steering stem nut 1, and then loosen it 1/8 – 1/4
of a turn.
NOTE:
This adjustment will vary from motorcycle to motorcycle. Make
sure that the steering turns smoothly and easily; in both direc-
tions.
When installing the washer, align the tongue 2 of the washer
with the groove 3 of the steering stem shaft.
Tighten the steering stem locknut to the specified torque us-
ing the special tool.
Steering stem locknut: 30 N·m (3.0 kgf-m)

REASSEMBLY AND REMOUNTING
Reassemble and remount the steering stem and handlebar in
the reverse order of removal and disassembly. Pay attention to
the following points:
UPPER AND LOWER RACES
Press in the upper and lower races using the special tool.
