4.2.4.5.4 Inspecting Optical Fiber Connectors
This topic describes how to inspect the end face of optical bers using a ber
microscope.
Tools, Equipment, and Materials
The following provides the required tools, equipment and materials for inspecting
optical ber connectors:
● Optical power meter
● 400X
ber microscope (A video ber microscope is recommended.)
Precautions
CA UTION
Laser energy is invisible and may cause eye injuries. Never look directly into ber
connectors or ports.
Use a ber microscope equipped with a safety device or a desktop video ber
microscope when inspecting the optical ber connectors.
