8.7.5 Motor phase failure detecon
The motor phase failure detecon funcon can be acvated for both synchronous and asyn-
chronous motors.
Precondions
Phase failure detecon during operaon is basically only suitable for applicaons which are
operated with a constant load and speed. In other cases, transient processes or unfavourable
operang points can cause maloperaon.
Details
If a current-carrying motor phase (U, V, W) fails during operaon, the response selected in
0x2D45:001 (P310.01) is tripped. In case of seng "No response [0]", only an entry is made in
the logbook.
A motor phase failure can only be detected if
1.
the rated motor current is higher than 10 % of the rated inverter current and
2.
the output frequency is not lower than 0.1 Hz (standsll).
The lower the output frequency the longer the detecon of the motor phase failure.

Background: in order to be able to reliably detect the failure of a
motor phase, rst a certain must ow for the current sensor system.
The detecon funcon is therefore only acvated if the actual value
of the motor current has exceeded the current threshold set here.

The monitoring funcon is triggered if the level of the motor current
is lower than the device-dependent threshold for longer than 20 ms.
•
In case of V/f characterisc control, the voltage threshold is consid-
ered addionally for the motor phase failure detecon. If the motor
voltage is higher than the voltage threshold, monitoring is combined
with the motor current.
