PVT ASSEMBLY
1. Inspect inner clutch cover. Replace if cracked or
damaged.
2. Remove silicone sealant from the engine case and
inner PVT cover.
3. Apply Blue RTV silicone sealant to the back side of
the inner clutch cover to ensure a water tight fit
between the engine and inner clutch cover. Both
surfaces must be clean to ensure adhesion of the
silicone sealant.
4. Install and properly align the inner clutch cover. Be
sure the cables and hose routings are correct.
5. Install the inner clutch cover bolts and washers that
retain the cover to the transmission and engine.
Torque bolts to specification.
TORQUE
Inner Clutch Cover Bolts:
10 ft-lbs (14 Nm)
6. Clean the splines inside the driven clutch and on the
transmission input shaft.
7. Apply a light film of grease to the splines on the shaft
8. Install the inner clutch sheave, thrust washer(s) and,
noting clutch sheave orientation, outer clutch sheave.
Torque retaining bolt to specification.
NOTE
Align the “X” marks on the inner and outer sheaves to
ensure clutch balance during operation.
TORQUE
Driven Clutch Retaining Bolt:
43 ft-lbs (58 Nm)
9. Clean the end of the taper on the crankshaft and the
tapered bore inside the drive clutch.
10.Install drive clutch onto the engine and torque
retaining bolt to specification.
TORQUE
Drive Clutch Retaining Bolt:
96 ft-lbs (130 Nm)
11. Install the drive belt noting direction of belt rotation. If
a new belt is installed, install so numbers can be
easily read from the outside of the vehicle.
12.Install a new outer clutch cover seal with the colored
stripe facing the inner clutch cover.
13.Reinstall outer clutch cover and secure with screws.
Torque screws to specification.
TORQUE
Outer Clutch Cover Retaining Screws:
2 ft-lbs (3 Nm)
14.Install the clutch inlet duct and tighten the hose
clamp.
TORQUE
Inlet Duct Hose Clamp:
24 in-lbs (3 Nm)
15.Reconnect the sway bar linkages. Torque sway bar
nuts to specification.
TORQUE
Sway Bar Linkage Fasteners:
42 ft-lbs (57 Nm)
