SHIFT LEVER INSTALLATION
Perform the removal steps in reverse order to install the
gear shift lever (lever, cable, right seat side panel, shift
knob).
1. Install the support blocks around the shift lever pivot
and then mount to frame. Torque fasteners.
TORQUE
Shift Lever Mount Fasteners:
Torque Till Seated
2. Install the shift cable onto the transmission linkage
and torque fastener to specification.
TORQUE
Shift Cable Fasteners:
13 ft-lbs (18 Nm)
3. Install the shift cable onto to the shift lever and torque
fastener to specification.
TORQUE
Shift Cable Fasteners:
13 ft-lbs (18 Nm)
4. Place the shift cable and upper jam nut into the
mount. Tighten the lower jam nut against the mount.
TORQUE
Shifter Cable Jam Nut:
Front: 18 ft-lb (24 Nm)
Rear: 13 ft-lbs (18 Nm)
5. Reinstall knob with the screw. Reinstall the cap.
6. Reinstall the right seat side panel and seat.
SHIFT CABLE INSPECTION
Shift cable adjustment may be necessary if symptoms
include:
• No gear position or AWD display on instrument cluster
• Ratcheting noise on deceleration
• Inability to engage into a gear
• Excessive gear lash (noise)
• Gear selector moving out of desired range
Inspect shift cable, clevis pins, and pivot bushings and
replace if worn or damaged.
