5. Disconnect the red
t
(positive) battery cable(s).
CAUTION
To reduce the chance of sparks: Whenever removing
the battery, disconnect the black (negative) cable first.
When reinstalling the battery, install the black (negative)
cable last.
6. Lift the battery out of the vehicle.
BATTERY INSTALLATION
NOTE
Using a new battery that has not been fully charged can
damage the battery and result in a shorter life. It can
also hinder vehicle performance.
1. Ensure the battery is fully charged.
2. Place the battery in the battery holder.
3. Install the battery vent tube.
4. Coat the terminals with dielectric grease or petroleum
jelly.
5. Connect and tighten the red (positive) cable(s) first.
TORQUE
Battery Terminal Fastener:
6 ft-lbs (8 Nm)
6. Connect and tighten the black (negative) cable (s)
last.
TORQUE
Battery Terminal Fastener:
6 ft-lbs (8 Nm)
7. Install the battery hold-down strap and tighten the
screw to specification.
TORQUE
Battery Hold-Down Strap Screw:
10 ft-lbs (13.5 Nm)
8. Verify the cables are properly routed and secure.
NOTE
If removed, the left seat slide will need to be reinstalled.
9. Reinstall the left seat cover panel. Install the three
screws and torque to specification.
TORQUE
Seat Cover Panel Screws:
8 ft-lbs (11 Nm)
10.Verify that cables are properly routed and reinstall the
driver’s seat.
