POWER STEERING UNIT (EPS)
INSTALLATION
CAUTION
Striking the steering wheel or steering shaft while
installed in the vehicle can permanently damage the
EPS unit and cause a power steering fault.
IMPORTANT
Electronic Power Steering (EPS) units are programmed
to be vehicle specific and are not interchangeable
between product lines.
1. If the lower steering shaft is already installed on the
steering rack, loosen the pinch bolt.
2. If the left side EPS frame bracket is not installed,
install it now and loosely tighten the nut.
3. Position the EPS unit and base plate back into the
vehicle.
NOTICE
The base plate cannot be installed on the EPS unit prior
to installation.
4. Once the EPS and base plate or positioned correctly,
loosely install the fasteners and washer that secure
the base plate to the left and right frame mounts.
5. Lift the EPS unit up and install the lower steering
shaft onto the output shaft. Loosely install the pinch
bolt using a new lock nut.
