UPPER STEERING SHAFT REMOVAL (EPS)
CAUTION
Striking the steering wheel or steering shaft while
installed in the vehicle can permanently damage the
EPS unit and cause a power steering fault.
IMPORTANT
Electronic Power Steering (EPS) units are programmed
to be vehicle specific and are not interchangeable
between product lines.
1. Place the vehicle on a flat, level surface.
2. Use the steering wheel to position the front wheels so
they point straight ahead.
3. Remove the front ROPS assembly from the vehicle.
4. Remove the front bumper assembly.
5. Remove the front cab assembly.
6. Remove the steering wheel tilt shock fastener.
7. Disconnect the EPS unit wire harness connectors.
8. Remove the upper steering shaft pinch bolt and lock
nut. Discard the lock nut.
9. Remove the pivot tube to frame pivot bolts and
hardware.
10.Remove the pivot tube / steering wheel assembly
from the vehicle.
11. To service the pivot tube / steering wheel assembly,
place the assembly in a bench vise.
12.Remove the cap and loosen the steering wheel nut
half way off of the steering shaft.
