PC attachment at the serial interface of a SCALANCE X400
HyperTerminal
The HyperTerminal program is available in the Windows 95 / 98 / NT / 2000 / XP operating
systems in the "Start > Programs > Accessories" menu. You can use this program for the
following tasks:
● Downloading firmware via the serial interface of the IE Switch X-400.
● Entering commands over the Command Line Interface
Procedure
Follow the steps below to connect a PC to the IE Switch X-400:
1. Connect the serial interface of the PC with the serial interface of the IE Switch X-400 with
a commercially available null modem cable.
2. Select the File > New Connection menu command in the HyperTerminal program. The
Properties window for a new connection opens.
3. Set the following parameters for the connection:
Bits per second: 115200
Data bits 8
Parity: None
Stop bits: 1
Protocol: None
