Checking Alternator Belt Tension
11. Position the right hand top brace. Install 3 bolts,
washers and nuts securing the right hand top brace
to the frame and rear radiator support (Fig. 633).
1. Check the tension of the alternator belt. There
should be 1/4” to 11/32” defl ection in the belt
between the engine and alternator pulleys with 22.1
lbs. of force (10kgf) (Fig. 634).

2. If the belt tension needs adjustment, refer to “Ten-
sioning the Alternator Belt” on page 5-62.
A. Alternator D. Top bolt
B. Alternator belt E. Bottom bolt
C. Defl ection, 1/4” to 11/32”
(7 to 9mm) with 22.1 lbs.
of force (10kgf)
12. Install the negative battery cable to the battery.
13. Lower the seat.
