4. Using a continuity tester, touch one tester lead to
one of the clutch terminals and the other lead to the
clutch housing.
5. If the tester shows a resistance reading, the fi eld has
failed and needs to be replaced.
The ignition switch removes power to the stop solenoid
when the key is turned to the Off position, the plunger of
the solenoid cuts off fuel fl ow to the fuel injectors and the
engine stops.

The engine stop solenoid is located on the lower left side
of the engine (Fig. 682).
The engine stop solenoid stops fuel fl ow from the injector
pump when the key is turned to the Off position.
