CYLINDER HEAD/VALVES
Excessive lapping
pressure
may
deform
or
damage
the
seat,
Do
not
allow
lapping compound
to enter
the
guides.
After cutting the seat, apply lapping compound to
the valve face, and lap the valve using light pres-
sure.
Change the angle of the lapping tool frequently to
prevent uneven seat wear.
After lapping, wash any residual compound off the
cylinder head and valve and recheck the seat con-
tact.

VALVE GUIDE
Blow out the oil passage in the cylinder head with
compressed air.
Apply engine oil to the inner surface of new stem
seals.
Install the spring seats and stem seals.
Lubricate the valve stem sliding surface with molyb-
denum oil solution.
Insert the valves into the guide while turning it
slowly to avoid damage to the stem
seal.
