Subsequent work
- Check that the wiring harness, cables, and brake and clutch lines can move freely
and are routed correctly.
- Install the front wheel. (

- Remove the motorcycle from the lift stand. ( .- p. 9)

Preliminary work
- Raise the motorcycle with the
lift stand. ( .- p. 9)
Main work

Move the handlebar to the straight-ahead position. Move the fork legs to and fro in
the direction of travel.
1 No play should be noticeable in the steering head bearing.

If there is noticeable play present
- Adjust play
of the steering head bearing ( .- p. 44)
- Move the handlebar to and fro over the entire steering range.
The handlebar must be able to move easily over the entire steering range.
No
click positions should be noticeable.

If click positions are noticeable:
- Adjust play
of the steering head bearing ( .- p. 44)
- Check the steering head bearing and replace if required.
Subsequent work
- Remove the motorcycle from the
lift stand. ( .- p. 9)

- Loosen screw . Remove screw
- Loosen
and retighten screw

- Using a plastic hammer, tap lightly on the upper triple clamp to avoid strains.
- Fully tighten screw
