VPS Synchronization Module Configuration
5 - 6 V Series Operating Instructions
5.2 VPS Synchronization
The VPS is a device designed to acquire and store up to 12 hours of real-time vital sign data. This
module can easily be moved with the patient between V 12/V 21 displays without removing the
patient connections. Whenever a VPS is removed from a monitor and inserted into another monitor, a
VPS synchronization occurs. VPS synchronization ensures that the 12 hours of patient data and
patient settings stored on the VPS and the monitor remain current.
5.2.1 Buttons on VPS
The VPS has three (3) buttons: , , and .
• : press the Start/Stop NIBP button to start or stop an NIBP measurement in progress.
• : press the Zero IBP button to set the current pressure for IBP channel 1 and IBP channel 2 to
zero.
• : press the Audio Pause button to silence all current and future alarms for the configured
time period. During the configured time period, press the button again to immediately cancel
the silence all function.
5.2.2 VPS Synchronization: Mismatched Patient IDs
NOTE: The Patient ID described here is a unique identifier established when a
patient is admitted. This ID cannot be changed and is not the same ID
assigned by the clinician in the Patient Info Demographics tab. Refer to
"Patient Demographics" on page 6-3 for additional information.
When a new patient VPS is inserted into a different monitor, the system recognizes that there is a
patient ID mismatch. A patient ID mismatch indicates that the patient ID does not match the patient
ID of the VPS. When this occurs, VPS synchronization is required before monitoring begins. A dialog
(shown in FIGURE 5-3) providing three choices displays:
