V Series Operating Instructions 19 - 15
Bispectral Index (BIS) (Optional) BIS Tile Layout
19.4.6 BIS Waveform Tile Layout
The BIS waveform tile displays an EEG waveform.
NOTE: The available EEG waveforms are determined by the module type and
the sensor type. Unilateral sensor on BISx supports two (2) channels of
EEG. Bilateral sensor on BISx4 supports four (4) channels of EEG.
• When using a unilateral sensor for BIS monitoring of a single side of the brain, the waveforms for
EEG 1 and EEG 2 display (as shown in FIGURE 19-10 and FIGURE 19-11):
1. Tile name
2. EEG waveform
3. Waveform scale
4. Unit of measure

NOTE: The above six alarm messages are
triggered while using the bilateral
sensor.
BIS High Alarm Violation Indicates that the current BIS value is either equal to or higher than the set
alarm limits.
BIS Low Alarm Violation Indicates that the current BIS value is either equal to or lower than the set
alarm limits.
Check SQI Level Indicates that
the current SQI value is either equal to or lower than
50%.
NOTE: The above three alarm messages are
triggered while using the unilateral
sensor.
Sensor Check In Progress Indicates that the background impedance check is still in progress.
Ground Check In Progress Indicates that a ground check is in progress.
Check Sensor Indicates that the BIS module is performing a sensor check.
Communication Error Indicates that the communication errors are detected with the BIS module.
No Sensor Indicates that no sensor is connected to the BISx or BISx4 module.
Artifact Detected Indicates that an artifact is detected by the BIS module.
Sensor Invalid Indicates that the sensor is not usable anymore.
Sensor Too Many Uses Indicates that the sensor has been used too many times.
Sensor Expired Indicates that the sensor is expired and its performance is compromised.
Sensor Unknown Indicates that the sensor cannot be recognized.
Sensor Type Unknown Indicates that the connected sensor type is not be identified.
