Adjust by loosening the lock nut and turning the adjusting
screw until there is 8 sl ight drag on the feeler gauge.
Hold the adjus tin g scr ew and tighten the lock nut.
TOROUE : 7- 10 N·m (0.7- 1.0 kg-m. 5-7 ft -Ibl

Recheck the valve clearance.
Inspect the O-ring on
the vahle inspe ction hole cap; replace it if
it is damaged. Tighten the cap with O-ring to the specified
torque.
TORQUE: 10 - 14 N·m (1.0 - 1.4 kg -m. 7-10 tt -Ibl
In spect the timing inspection hole cap's O' ring fo r damage,
then install the cap.
Install the recoil starter with the three bolts .
CARBURETOR-IDLE SPEED
NOTE
Inspect and adjust the carburetor idle speed after aU ot her
engine adjustments are within specification.
The engine must be warm for accurate id le inspection and
adjustment.
Connect a tachometer.
Warm up the engine. Stop and go riding for ten minutes is suf-
ficient.
Sh ift the transm issi on to NEUTRAL.
Turn the thrott le stop scr ew as required to obtain the specified
idle speed.
IDLE SPEED : 1, 700 :t. 100 rpm
CYLINDER COMPRESSION
Warm up the engine.
Stop the engine and remove the spark plug.
Insert a comp ression gauge.
Open the ch oke and hold th e throttle fully open.
Operate the recoil starter several times, untill the gauge read-
ing stops rising.
