Remove the camshaf t al i gning the cam lobes wi th the cy li nder
head cutouts .
Re m ove the valve spring cotte rs, retainers, sp rings an d valves.
CAUTION
To prevent loss oj lension, do nOI compress the valve sp rings
more than
necessary to remove the cotters.
Remove valve s pr ing seats, stem seal caps and ste m seal s.

Remove car bo n deposits from the combustion chamber.
Clean ot f the head gasket surface.
NO TE
Avoid damaging the gasket su rf ace.
• Gasket material wi ll come off easier if soaked in solvent.

I nspect the r ocker arms fo r damage, wear or cl ogged oil holes.
Measure
the 1.0. of t he r ocker arm.
