Theory of Operation
Prefeed
In the Prefeed process, the media is fed from the Feed Roller to the Takeaway
Roller.
When the Nudger Roller is pressed down to the media surface, the ADF Motor
rotates to drive the Nudger Roller and Feed Roller. The Nudger Roller feeds
the top media in the document tray to the Feed Roller. The Feed Roller,
nipped by the ADF Separator Pad, feeds the media (coming from the Nudger
Roller) one by one. When the Feed Sensor detects the media, the printer
recognizes that first media feeding is complete.
