REMOVING THE STEERING KNUCKLES
The following procedure applies to both of the
steering knuckles.
1. Remove:
• Steering knuckle “1”

Use a general puller to separate the ball joints
“2” from the steering knuckle “1”.

CHECKING THE TIE-RODS
The following procedure applies to both of the
tie-rods.
1. Check:
• Tie-rod free play and movement
Free play → Replace the tie-rod end.
Rough movement → Replace the tie-rod end.
2. Check:
• Tie-rod
Bends/damage → Replace.

steering knuckles.
1. Check:
• Steering knuckle
Damage/pitting → Replace.

INSTALLING THE TIE-RODS
The following procedure applies to both of the
tie-rods.
1. Install:
• Tie-rod
IP
Install the tie-rod so that the groove “1” is on the
wheel side.
2. Adjust:
• Toe-in
Refer to “ADJUSTING THE TOE-IN” on page
3-27.
