TIE-RODS AND STEERING KNUCKLES

REMOVING THE STEERING KNUCKLES
The following procedure applies to both of the
steering knuckles.
1. Remove:
Steering knuckle 1
T
IP
Use a general puller to separate the ball joints
2 from the steering knuckle 1.

CHECKING THE TIE-RODS
The following procedure applies to both of the
tie-rods.
1. Check:
Tie-rod free play and movement
Free play Replace the tie-rod end.
Rough movement Replace the tie-rod end.
2. Check:
Tie-rod
Bends/damage Replace.

CHECKING THE STEERING KNUCKLES
The following procedure applies to both of the
steering knuckles.
1. Check:
Steering knuckle
Damage/pitting Replace.

INSTALLING THE TIE-RODS
The following procedure applies to both of the
tie-rods.
1. Install:
Tie-rod
T
IP
Install the tie-rod so that the groove 1 is on the
wheel side.
2. Adjust:
Toe-in
Refer to ADJUSTING THE TOE-IN on page
3-27.

25 Nm (2.5 m·kg, 18 ft·lb)
