FINAL REDUCTION

Remove the final reduction case breather hose
grommet.
FINAL REDUCTION INSPECTION
BEARING
LEFT CRANKCASE
Check each bearing for wear or damage.
Turn the inner race of the countershaft and final
gear shaft bearings with your finger. The bearing
should turn smoothly and quietly. Also check that
the bearing outer race fits tightly in the crankcase.
Replace the bearings if they do not turn smoothly,
quietly, or if they fit loosely on the crankcase.
Turn the driveshaft with your hand. The shaft
should turn smoothly and quietly. Also check that
the bearing outer race fits tightly in the crankcase
and the bearing inner race fits tightly on the
driveshaft.
Replace the bearing if it does not turn smoothly,
quietly, or if it fits loosely on the crankcase and
driveshaft.
FINAL REDUCTION CASE
Check the final reduction case bearings and final
gear shaft oil seal for wear or damage.
Turn the inner race of each bearing with your finger.
The bearing should turn smoothly and quietly. Also
check that the bearing outer race fits tightly in the
final reduction case.
Replace the bearings if they do not turn smoothly,
quietly, or if they fit loosely on the final reduction
case.
