MECHANICAL
SEAL REPLACEMENT
NOTE-
• When replacing the mechanical seal, the impeller
and
pump
shaft must be replaced with
new
ones.
Remove the front crankcase cover (page 12-6).
Remove the
following:
- five bolls
[1J
and sealing washer [2]
-
pump
cover

- O·ring [4) (from the cover)
Remove the impeller assembly from the pump shaft by

Remove the mating
ring
and
cup gasket of the
mechanical seal from the impeller.
Remove the following:

pump
shaft
- thrust washer [3)
Remove
the
mechanical
seal

Remover
weight
U.S.A. TOOLS:
Bearing remover, 15
mm
Remover
weight
Remove the oil seal

Apply molybdenum oil solution
to
the lips
of
a new oil
seal.
Install
the oil seal with the flat side facing oul until il is
fully sealed.
