General Cautions
D062/D063/D065/D066 4-2 SM
3. To prevent drum scratches, remove the development unit before removing the drum
unit.
4.1.3 TRANSFER BELT UNIT
1. Never touch the transfer belt surface with bare hands.
2. Take care not to scratch the transfer belt, as the surface is easily damaged.
3. Before installing the new transfer belt, clean all the rollers and the inner part of the
transfer belt with a dry cloth to prevent the belt from slipping.
4.1.4 SCANNER UNIT
1. When installing the exposure glass, make sure that the white paint is at the rear left
corner.
2. Clean the exposure glass with alcohol or glass cleaner to reduce the amount of static
electricity on the glass surface.
3. Use a cotton pad with water or a blower brush to clean the mirrors and lens.
4. Do not bend or crease the exposure lamp cable.
5. Do not disassemble the lens unit. Doing so will throw the lens and the copy image out
of focus.
6. Do not turn any of the CCD positioning screws. Doing so will throw the CCD out of
position.
4.1.5 LASER UNIT
1. Do not loosen the screws that secure the LD drive board to the laser diode casing.
Doing so would throw the LD unit out of adjustment.
2. Do not adjust the variable resistors on the LD unit, as they are adjusted in the factory.
3. The polygon mirror and F-theta lenses are very sensitive to dust. Do not open the
optical housing unit.
4. Do not touch the glass surface of the polygon mirror motor unit with bare hands.
5. After replacing the LD unit, do the laser beam pitch adjustment. Otherwise, an SC
condition will be generated.
4.1.6 CHARGE CORONA
1. Clean the corona wires with a dry cloth. Do not use sandpaper or solvent.
2. Clean the charge corona casing with water first to remove NOx based compounds.
Then clean it with alcohol if any toner still remains on the casing.
3. Clean the end block with a blower brush first to remove toner and paper dust. Then
clean with alcohol if any toner still remains.
