A.C. MAGNETO AND STARTER WHEEL GEAR

REMOVAL
1. Remove:
Bolt (rotor)
1
Washer
2
Loosen the bolt (rotor)
1 while holding the mag-
neto with the sheave holder
3.
Do not allow the sheave holder
3 to touch the
projection on the rotor.
Sheave holder:
90890-01701
2. Remove:
A.C. magneto
1
Remove the rotor
1 using the rotor puller 2 and
crankshaft protector
3.
Fully tighten the tool holding bolts, but make sure
the tool body is parallel with the magneto. If nec-
essary, one screw may be backed out slightly to
level tool body.
Flywheel puller:
90890-01362
Crankshaft protector:
90890-01382
INSPECTION
1. Check:
Starter clutch operation
Clutch operation checking steps:
Install the starter wheel gear to the starter clutch,
and hold the starter clutch.
When turning the starter wheel gear clockwise
A
, the starter clutch and the wheel gear should
be engaged.
If not, the starter clutch is faulty. Replace it.
When turning the starter wheel gear counter-
clockwise
B
, the starter wheel gear should turn
freely.
If not, the starter clutch is faulty. Replace it.
