IGNITION SYSTEM

NOTE:
Refer to “SWITCH INSPECTION”.
1. Fuse (main and ignition)
Replace fuse(s).
NO CONTINUITY
S Check the battery condition.
Refer to “BATTERY INSPECTION” in CHAP-
TER 3.
2. Battery
CONTINUITY
Open-circuit voltage:
12.8 V or more at 20_C
:
S Clean battery terminals.
S Recharge or replace the battery.

TROUBLESHOOTING
IF IGNITION SYSTEM SHOULD BECOME INOPERATIVE (NO SPARK OR INTERMITTENT SPARK)
Procedure
Check:
1. Fuse (main and ignition)
2. Battery
3. Spark plug
4. Ignition spark gap
5. Spark plug cap resistance
6. Ignition coil resistance
7. Pickup coil resistance
8. Main switch
9. Engine stop switch
10. Neutral switch
11. Sidestand switch
12. Wiring connection
(entire ignition system)
S Remove the following parts before troubleshoot-
ing.
1) Seat
2) Side cowlings
3) Side covers
4) Fuel tank
5) Air filter case
S Use the following special tool(s) in this trouble-
shooting.
Ignition checker:

Pocket tester:
90890-03112
