BRAKE FLUID LEVEL INSPECTION
Position the motorcycle straight up when inspect-
ing the fluid level.
1. Place the motorcycle on a level surface.
Place the motorcycle on its centerstand if a cen-
terstand is equipped. If not, place a suitable stand
under the motorcycle.
2. Inspect:
Fluid level
Fluid level is under “LOWER” level line

Recommended fluid:
DOT 4
When inspecting the fluid level in the reservoir on
the handlebar, make sure the master cylinder top
is horizontal.
Brake fluid may corrode painted surfaces or
plastic parts. Always clean up spilled fluid im-
mediately.
Use only the designated quality fluid. Other-
wise, the rubber seals may deteriorate caus-
ing leakage and poor brake performance.
Refill with the same type of fluid. Mixing
fluids may result in a harmful chemical reac-
tion leading to poor brake performance.
Be careful that water does no enter the mas-
ter cylinder when refilling. Water will signifi-
cantly lower the boiling point of the fluid and
could cause vapor lock.
