ACCU
Accumulators are registers in the CPU used as bu󹪜er storage for load and transfer operations, as
well as comparison, arithmetic, and conversion operations.
Accumulated current
Total current of all output channels of a digital output module.
Automation system
An automation system is a programmable control system, consisting of at least one CPU, various
input and output modules as well as operating and monitoring devices.
Backplane bus
The backplane bus is a serial data bus via which the interface module communicates with the
electronic modules and supplies them with the necessary voltage. The various modules are
interconnected by means of terminal modules.
Baud rate
The baud rate is a unit for the step rate of data transmission. On the PROFIBUS DP the baud rate
corresponds approximately to the bit rate. The transmission rate speci󹪝es the number of bits
transmitted per second.
Bus
Shared data transmission path to which all nodes are connected. It has two de󹪝ned ends.
For ET 200, the bus is a two-wire line or a 󹪝ber-optic cable.
Bus connector
Physical connection between the bus nodes and the bus cable.
