CRANKSHAFT, PISTON AND CYLINDER BODY
CHECKING THE PISTON RING
1. Measure:
 End gap
a
Out of specification  Replace the
piston ring.
NOTE:
Push the piston ring into the cylinder with
the piston crown.
2. Measure:
 Side clearance

and
c
Out of specification  Replace the
piston and piston rings as a set.
CHECKING THE CRANKSHAFT
Measure:
 Crankshaft runout
Out of specification
 Replace the
crankshaft.
Top ring end gap:
0.15 - 0.30 mm(0.006 - 0.012 in)
2nd ring end gap:
0.30 - 0.45 mm(0.012 - 0.018 in)
Oil ring end gap:
0.20 - 0.70 mm(0.008 - 0.028 in)
Top ring side clearance
b
:
0.04 - 0.08 mm(0.0016 - 0.0031 in)
2nd ring side clearance
c
:
0.03 - 0.07 mm(0.0012 - 0.0028 in)
Crankshaft runout limit:
0.03 mm (0.0012 in)
