Systolicanddiastolicdeterminationsarebasedonamathematicalcalculationwithin
thealgorithm.Thedeationmodeisheartratedependent,itistypicallylongerwith
heartratesthatareslowand/orirregular.
Thispatentedprocessofndingtwomatchedpulsationsofrelativelyequalamplitude
andfrequencyateachsteprejectsartifactduetopatientmovementorother
deviationsfromidealconditions(e.g.,cuffdisturbances)andgreatlyenhancesthe
overallaccuracyofthemeasurement.

NIBPvaluesarebasedontheoscillometricmethodof
non-invasivebloodpressuremeasurementtakenwitha
cuffonthearmofadultandchildpatients,andacuffon
thecalfofinfants.Thevaluescorrespondtocomparisons
withintra-arterialvalueswithinIECparticularstandardsfor
accuracy(ameandifferenceof±5mmHg,andastandard
deviationof<8mmHg).
