Alarmprioritylevels
Physiologicalandtechnicalalarmsarecategorizedbyprioritylevel:
●Highpriorityalarmsrequireanimmediateresponse.
●Mediumpriorityalarmsrequireapromptresponse.
●Lowpriorityalarmsrequireyoutobeawareofthiscondition.
●Informationalprioritymessagesprovideinformationyoushouldknow.
Alarmpriorityescalation
Anescalatingalarmstartsatadesignatedprioritylevel(lowormedium)andwill
escalatetothenexthigherprioritylevelofalarm(afterasetnumberofseconds)ifthe
alarmconditionhasnotbeenresolved.Itisimportanttonotethattheseescalateup
tothenextlevelbutwillnotresetuntiltheconditionhasbeenresolved.
NOTE
Alarmpriorityescalationaffectsthecurrentlyongoingalarm
condition,notanyfuturealarmsofthesametype.Anynew
alarmswillalarmattheirdesignatedprioritylevel,notatthe
escalatedlevel.

Selectingparameteralarmprioritylevels
Escalatinganalarmpriorityincreasesthepriorityofthealarmconditionorincreases
thesenseofurgencyofanalarmsignal.Thealarmpriorityisbasedonclinical
considerations.
TheallowedprioritiesfordifferentalarmgroupsaredenedintheCareUnitSettings
andtheyarepasswordprotected.
