Alarms
Alarmconditions
Physiologicalalarmconditionsaretriggeredbyapatientmeasurementbeing
outsidetheparameterlimits,byapnea,orbyanarrhythmiacondition.
Technicalalarmconditionsaretriggeredbyanelectrical,mechanical,orother
failureoftheequipment,orbyfailureofasensororcomponent.Technicalalarm
conditionsmayalsobecausedwhenanalgorithmcannotclassifyorinterpretthe
availabledata.Thevisualmanifestationofatechnicalalarmisactiveaslongas
thereasonforthatalarmexists.
Certaintechnicalalarmscanbedeactivatedwiththepauseaudiokey.Some
alarmscanbeconguredintheCareUnitSettingsanditispasswordprotected.

Alarmsindualmonitoring
NOTE
Duringpreparationforandreturnfromtransport,the
CARESCAPEONEisconnectedtoahostmonitorindual
monitoring.Indualmonitoring,alarmmessagesarenot
showninthealarmareaandparameterwindownumerics
donotashontheCARESCAPEONEdisplayduringanalarm
conditionbecausetheCARESCAPEONEisactingasan
acquisitiondeviceforthehostmonitor.
AtallothertimeswhentheCARESCAPEONEisconnectedtoa
hostmonitor,theCARESCAPEONEdisplayremainsoffandall
informationispresentedonthehostmonitoronly.
AlarmtransferfromCARESCAPEONEtoahostmonitor
WhentheCARESCAPEONEwithanactivepatientcase/admittedpatientandactiveor
latchedalarmsisconnectedtoahostmonitor,thesealarmswillbecomelatchedon
thehostmonitor.Transferredalarmsareconsiderednewerthantheexistingalarms
onthehostmonitor,whichaffectsthepriorityorderofthedisplayedalarms.Also
notethatafterconnection,CARESCAPEONEalarmsarereevaluatedagainstthehost
monitoralarmlimitsandmaybereactivated.IftheContinuemenuisopened,the
alarmtransferonlyhappensafteraselectionismade,meaningthatalarmevaluation
ishappeningindependentlyontheCARESCAPEONEandthehostmonitoruntila
selectionismade.
Checkingalarmfunction
1.Setaparameteralarmlimitoutsideofthecurrentmeasuredpatientvalues.
Forexample,connecttheSpO
2
sensorandadjusttheSpO
2
highlimitunderthe
measuredSpO
2
values.
2.Conrmthatthefollowingalarmnoticationeventsoccur:
Theaudiblealarmsoundsthecorrecttone.
Thealarmlightilluminates.
TheSpO
2
numericvalueashesintheparameterwindowwiththecorrectcolor.
3.Audiopausethealarmsandconrmthatthealarmsarepausedandthatthe
alarmsilenceindicatorlightisasolidbluecolor.
4.Returntheparameteralarmlimittotheoriginalvalue.
