- Auto-enabled – Enables CDP for the switch. Ports set to Auto-enabled do not
send CDP packets until a CDP packet has been received on any port that is not
set to CDP disabled.
• Hold Time – The time the switch waits for an update CDP packet from neighbor
devices before aging out the entries. If a neighbor device has a longer Hold Time,
the switch waits the additional time before discarding the entry. (Range: 15-600
seconds; Default: 180 seconds)
• Timer – Controls the frequency with which the switch transmits a CDP packet on
all enabled ports. (Range: 5-900 seconds; Default: 60 seconds).
• Authentication Key – A code string that defines the CDP domain to which the
switch belongs. A CDP domain is a logical grouping of devices that exchange CDP
packets. If the switch receives a CDP packet with a different Authentication Key,
the CDP packet is discarded. If the Authentication Key is left at the default value
(null), the switch processes all CDP packets received. (Maximum 16 characters)
Note: A device that sits between two or more CDP domains should set its Authentication
Key to the default null value.
Web – Select Enterasys, CDP, Global Settings. To enable CDP, set the global status
to "Enabled" or "Auto Enabled," then set the Hold Time for retaining neighbor device
information and the transmit time for sending CDP packets. If you employ CDP
domains, enter the key value. Click Apply.
