different switch-on times can be preset.
The independent ventilation control venti-
lates the interior of the car and lowers its
temperature.
The auxiliary heater heats the interior, and it
facilitates removing snow and ice from the
exterior.
The systems run for 30 minutes. They can
also be switched on and off directly. Since
its current consumption is high, it should
not be run twice in succession unless there
has in the meantime been an opportunity to
recharge the car's battery by driving the
car.
Independent ventilation control
It can be operated at any outside tempera-
ture above approx. 10

if the switch-on
time is preselected, or switched on directly
at any outside temperature, but not when
the car is being driven.
Air emerges from the variable-flow,
controlled-direction outlets for the upper
body zone in the instrument panel. The
outlets must therefore be open.
Auxiliary heater
It can be operated at outside temperatures
below approx. 10

if the switch-on time is
preselected, or switched on directly at any
outside temperature. This only applies
when the car is driven, however, until the
engine has reached its regular operating
temperature.
The heated air is directed automatically to
the windscreen, side windows and foot-
wells; optimum heating output is always
used.
With the ignition in the radio position, you
can adjust the interior temperature, air
supply and air distribution. The auxiliary
heater continues to run for a short time
after it has been switched off. The indicator
light goes out when it is switched off, see
page 97.
Even during the warm season of the
year the auxiliary heater should be
switched on directly about once a month,
then switched off again after about
5 minutes.

Do not operate the auxiliary heater in
confined spaces (closed rooms).
Switch off the auxiliary heater before refu-
elling the car.

The auxiliary heater will not come on if
there is not enough fuel in the tank for
at least approx. 50 km (approx. 30 miles).

Switching on and off directly
The procedure for the auxiliary heater is
described here. The independent ventila-
tion control is activated in the same way.
1. Switch on ignition to radio position
2. Select "Stationary" on the second page
of the menu "Climate" and confirm
3. Select "Aux. heating" and confirm.
Select "Aux. heating" again and confirm to
switch it off directly.
