Ignition lock
Insert the remote control fully into the igni-
tion lock. The radio ignition position is
active.
If the remote control is in the ignition
lock, you can start the engine without
first having to turn on the ignition.

Convenient access
*
In preparation
You must be carrying the remote control on
your person in order to use convenient
access.
Convenient access means that you do not
need to insert the remote control in the
ignition lock. You can switch the ignition on
and off, see below, or start the engine, see
page 57, if a remote control is identified
inside the car.
When you switch off the engine, the
transmission automatically moves to
positionPinterlock.
<
Switching the ignition on and off
Do not press the footbrake until you
wish to start the engine. If you press
the start/stop button with the footbrake
pressed, the engine is started immedi-
ately.
<
Each time the start/stop button is pressed,
the radio ignition position or the ignition are
switched on or off.
1

Certain systems are operational, e.g.
control centre, independent ventilation
control. The time and outside temperature
are shown in the info display.
The radio ignition position is switched
off automatically:
>
After approx. 30 minutes if a door is
closed and no person can be detected
inside the car
>
immediately if the car is locked from the
outside.
<
2
Ignition switched on:
All systems are ready to operate.
0
Ignition switched off:
The indicator lights in the info display go
out. Only the automatic transmission's
selector lever indicator remains on for a
short time.
Removing remote control from the
ignition lock
Press the remote control in briefly; it is
ejected a short way. The ignition is in addi-
tion switched off if it was previously on.
Take the remote control out of the
ignition lock with the engine switched
off.
The transmission then switches automati-
cally to position P (interlock).
