Selecting scale for navigation an example
Start the dialogue:
Briefly press the button in the steering
wheel.
Notes
Do not use the voice input system for
emergency calls. Your voice and
habitual tone could be affected by stressful
situations, as a result of which the process
of establishing the telephone connection
could be unnecessarily delayed. Instead,
use the emergency call button near the
interior mirror, see page 175.

Operating conditions
The voice input system uses a special
hands-free microphone located in the roof
lining, towards the front of your car.
Although background noises are filtered
out, please observe the following points to
makesure that the system understands you
accurately:

Speak continuously and at normal
volume. Avoid unnatural emphasis and
pauses between words
>
Do not speak while the voice input
system itself is giving an output
>
Keep doors, windows and the sunroof
closed to avoid noise interference from
outside the car
>
Avoid causing background noise in the
car while you are speaking, and ask your
passengers not to talk while you are issuing
voice commands
>
The hands-free microphone is posi-
tioned to pick up the driver's voice. Other
occupants of the car could be understood
with less accuracy, and are therefore
advised to use the handset for making a
telephone call.
The notepad
Recording a note

You can record spoken text for a total of
about ten minutes, either as individual
passages or continuously.
Ending recording:
Press the button for longer.
When recording notes, the voice input
system is programmed to ignore the
commands >>Cancel<< and >>Exit<<. In
this instance, the function which identifies
the command words is deactivated to
enable you to use a free choice of vocabu-
lary in your notes. In other words,
command w ords do not have to be
avoided.

Listening to notes
To listen to previously recorded notes:
1. >>Read out note<<
Approximately the first 3 seconds of
the first note are read out
