see page 31, or engage the remote control
in the ignition lock.

Opening and closing from
the inside
This button is used to operate the central
locking system when the front doors are
closed. This only unlocks or locks
the doors, luggage compartment lid and
fuel filler flap, but does not deadlock them.
If only the driver's door has been
unlocked with the remote control, see
page 32, or with convenient access, see
page 32, and you press the button, all
the other doors, the luggage compartment
lid and the fuel filler flap are unlocked.
When is pressed, if the driver's door is
closed it is locked.
<
If you wish, you can have the central
locking set to be engaged automati-
cally as soon as you set off or if you have
not opened a door or the luggage compart-
ment lid within a short time of unlocking the
car. You can have this setting programmed
as part of the Key Memory facility.
<

Either use the central locking button to
unlock all doors at once, then pull the door
handle above the armrest, or
>
pull the door handle out twice at any
door: the first pull will unlock the door, the
second pull will open it.
When the car's low-beam headlights
are switched on, the inside door
handles are illuminated. The lighting inten-
sity is controlled together with the instru-
ment lighting, see page 94.

avoid being locked out of the car inadvert-
ently, the driver's door cannot be locked
using the lock button when it is open, or the
lock button on the driver's door is raised
again after a short while when the door is
open.
Do not lock doors via the safety
buttons while travelling, as these
doors will then not be unlocked automati-
cally in the event of an accident. Persons
remaining in the car or pets left inside can
lock the doors from the inside. Always take
