>
Drive position D or R:
Push the selector lever up or down, beyond
the pressure point
>
Neutral N:
Push the selector lever as far as the pres-
sure point
>

Press button P, arrow

.
As soon as you release the selector lever, it
returns to the centre position.
Before moving the lever away from P
or N with the vehicle stationary, first
depress the footbrake, otherwise the
desired gearshift will not be performed
(shiftlock).
Keep the footbrake applied until you are
ready to move off; this will prevent the car
from creeping forwards when a gear is
selected. You can activate Automatic Hold
to suppress this creeping movement, see
page 58.
<
The gearshift request is transmitted electri-
cally. The plausibility of every gearshift
request is assessed and the gearshift only
performed if the possibility of incorrect
operation is excluded.
Observe the messages in the Check
Control.
For further details of Check Control, see
page 78.
Before leaving the car with the engine
still running, engage the automatic
transmission position P and ensure that the
parking brake is applied, otherwise the car
could start to move. Observe the informa-
tion in the info display.
Do not leave the car unattended with the
engine running, as this constitutes a
hazard.
