For about 1 minute after the ignition has
been turned back to position 0 or the
remote control disengaged.
To open, press the switch beyond the pres-
sure point.
When leaving the car, always remove
the remote control from the ignition
lock and close the doors, so that children
cannot operate the electric windows and
possibly injure themselves.

Protective function
If the closing force of a window exceeds a
specific value as it closes, the closing
action is interrupted immediately and the
window reopens slightly.
Despite this protective function,
make sure that the window is not
obstructed as it closes; if this precaution is
not taken, the risk remains that thin objects,
for instance, could fail to interrupt the
closing movement.
To restrict this protective function, pull the
switch beyond its pressure point and hold it
in position. In this instance, if the closing
force exceeds a specific value the window
is opened only a few millimetres.
If the switch is pulled beyond the pressure
point again within approx. 4 seconds and
held in that position, this protective func-
tion is overridden.

If you wish, this protective function
can be overridden the first time the
switch is pulled and held in position. BMW
Service can make this adjustment for you.

When the windows are being closed,
the closing speed is reduced shortly
before the limit position is reached, to allow
greater responsiveness of the protective
function in this more critical zone.

Safety switch
This enables you to prevent the rear door
windows from being opened and closed at
the switches in the rear seat area, for
instance by children. The same applies to
adjustment of the electric rear seats, see
page 44, and to operation of the roller sun
blinds from the rear seat, see page 108.
When the safety function is switched on,
the indicator light comes on.
Always press the safety switch when
carrying children on the rear seat.
Careless closure of electric windows can
cause injury.

The remote control must be engaged
in the ignition lock before you can
deactivate the function again.

After fitting accessories
If you fit accessories within the window
movement range (e.g. a clip-on aerial for
your mobile phone), the system must be
initialised to "teach" it the new conditions.

ance.
Sliding/tilt roof

Always close the sliding/tilt roof care-
fully, so that injuries are avoided.
When leaving the car, always remove the
remote control from the ignition lock and
close the doors, so that children cannot
operate the sunroof and possibly injure
themselves.
