Calling up new voice messages
If there are new voice messages, you will receive an SMS
message from your service provider, see page 216,
informing you that you have a new voice message.
You can then dial the number of your mailbox, e.g. from the
phone book, and check your voice messages
or
Press twice while the text/SMS message is displayed.
For details of how to operate the mailbox functions, please
see the instructions supplied by your service provider and
follow the automatic voice prompts that are given while you
are connected with your mailbox.
In order to control the mailbox functions, the DTMF tones
must be switched on, see page 244.
Messages from the service provider
Some service providers inform their customers via the
mailbox e.g. of special campaigns, the availability of new
services or forthcoming interruptions to the network for
maintenance purposes.
You can call up such messages in the same way as
conventional messages.
Phone book
You can set up a personal phone book with numbers and
names. These entries are stored on your SIM card;
depending on service provider, there may be capacity for
up to 200.
Storing such data on the card offers the advantage that you
can transfer this phone book to any other car phone or
mobile phone activated by your SIM card. Conversely, all
entries already stored on your card using another phone
can be transferred in the same way to your BMW car
phone.
After storing, entries can be modified or extended at any
time, and individual entries or the entire phone book
deleted.
If you are phoned by someone whose phone number is
stored on the card, the name of the caller is displayed on
the handset before you answer the call.
Every entry in the phone book comprises the number (up to
20 digits), name (up to 18 digits) and memory location
number, from 1 to anything up to 200 (depending on the
service provider).
If you also wish to operate the phone book on your SIM
card by voice input, the voice input system must first be
prepared accordingly and a special voice-activated phone
