made. It also makes full use of the advan-
tages offered by ABS.
Maintain pressure on the brake pedal
during the entire brake application. If the
brake pedal is released, DBC will be
switched off.
The yellow warning lamp comes on
if a malfunction occurs. Have the
system checked at the next oppor-

Observe the supplementary information in
the control display.

Anti-lock Brake System
(ABS)
The principle
ABS prevents the wheels from locking
when the brakes are applied, and thus
increases active safety.
ABS includes the CBC and EBV functions.
In the event of a fault
If the indicator light comes on
yellow, ABS has been shut down
due to a fault. Normal brake action
is not affected (no restrictions). Please
arrange for the problem to be examined by
BMW Service.
Cornering Brake Control (CBC)
CBC is a development based on ABS.
When the brakes are applied while
cornering under high lateral acceleration
and when changing lanes, the vehicle's
stability is further enhanced and its steera-
bility boosted.
Electronic Brake Force Distribution
(EBV)
EBV regulates the braking pressure on the
rear wheels in order to stabilise the braking
behaviour.
In the event of a fault
If the brake warning light lights up
red in conjunction with the yellow
indicator lights for ABS and DSC:
the Dynamic Stability Control
system has failed.
If all three indicator lights are
yellow: there is a fault in the driving
stability control system.
Drive with care, looking at the traffic situa-
tion well ahead, and avoid heavy brake
applications. Please arrange for the
problem to be examined by the nearest
BMW Service.
Check Control messages, see page 78.
Observe the supplementary information in
the control display.
Dynamic Drive
*
The principle
Dynamic Drive minimises side tilt of your
car and optimises dynamic stability when
cornering or taking evasive action.
Dynamic Drive is based on active stabi-
lisers on the front and rear axles.
Depending on the driving situation, the
suspension response is sporty when
cornering and relaxed when driving straight
ahead.
The system is ready to operate each time
the engine is started.
Driving with Dynamic Drive
The system constantly acts within a fraction
of a second while the car is on the move.
In the event of a fault
The symbol lights up and a
message appears in the Check
Control. Observe the supplemen-
tary information in the control display. For
further details on Check Control, see
page 78 onwards.
In the event of Dynamic Drive failing,
moderate your speed, particularly
when cornering.
