Chapter 2
Device Level Ring Network Topology
A DLR network is a single-fault tolerant ring network that is intended for the
interconnection of automation devices. This topology is also implemented at
the device level. No additional switches are required.
DLR network topologies automatically convert to linear network topologies
when a fault is detected. The conversion to the new network topology
maintains communication of data on the network. The fault condition is
typically detected and corrected.
For more information on DLR network topology, see the EtherNet/IP
Embedded Switch Technology Application Guide, publication ENET-AP005
.
