6. If removing the evaporator coil, remove the fasteners
holding the evaporator coil to the heater coil.
7. To Install, reverse procedure. Tighten fasteners to
specification.
TORQUE
Expansion Valve Pressure Hoses:
12 ft-lb (16 Nm)
Expansion Valve Tubes:
22 ft-lb (30 Nm)
8. Recharge the A/C system.
HEATER / EVAPORATOR UNIT REPLACEMENT
HEATER / EVAPORATOR UNIT REMOVAL
1. Remove the refrigerant from the A/C system.
WARNING
In the event of a leak, wear safety goggles. Escaping
refrigerant can cause severe injuries to eyes. In contact
with a flame, R-134a refrigerant gives a toxic gas.
2. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Radiator
Removal / Installation, page 3.88 procedure.
3. Remove the upper and lower dash. Refer to Dash
Panels / Glove Box Removal, page 10.31
procedure.
4. Disconnect the blower unit connector to the wire
harness.
5. Remove the fasteners

holding the air distributor
manifold to the heater / evaporator unit.
6. Remove the clamps holding the coolant hoses to the
heater / evaporator unit through the front wheel
opening.
