Cooling Fan Thermo-Switch Inspection

Inspect the cooling fan thermo-switch in the following
procedures:
1) Remove the cooling fan thermo-switch. Refer to
“Cooling Fan Thermo-switch Removal and
Installation (Page 1E-13)”.
2) Check the thermo-switch closing or opening
temperatures by testing it at the bench as shown in
the figure.
3) Connect the thermo-switch (1) to the circuit tester
and place it in oil “A” contained in a pan, which is
placed on the stove.
4) Heat the oil to raise its temperature slowly and read
the column thermometer (2) when the switch closes
or opens. If any abnormality is found, replace the
cooling fan thermo-switch with a new one.
CAUTION
!
• Take special care when handling the
cooling fan thermo-switch. Do not subject
it to strong blows or allow it to be dropped.
• Do not contact the cooling fan thermo-
switch (1) and the column thermometer (2)
with the pan.

: 09900–25008 (Multi-circuit tester set)

Standard (OFF → ON): Approx. 120 C° (248 °F)
Standard (ON → OFF): Approx. 110 C° (230 °F)
5) Reinstall the cooling fan thermo-switch. Refer to
“Cooling Fan Thermo-switch Removal and
Installation (Page 1E-13)”.
Engine Oil Temperature Switch Removal and
Installation

Removal
1) Remove the left side of the front inner fender. Refer
to “Exterior Parts Removal and Installation in Section
9D (Page 9D-3)”.
2) Disconnect the engine oil temperature switch
coupler.
3) Place a rag under the switch and remove the engine
oil temperature switch (1).
Installation
Installation is in the reverse order of removal. Pay
attention to the following points:
• Install new seal washer (1).
• Tighten the engine oil temperature switch to the
specified torque.
Tightening torque
Engine oil temperature switch: 23 N·m (2.3 kgf-
m, 16.5 lb-ft)
• Check engine oil level or pour engine oil if necessary.
Refer to “Engine Oil and Filter Replacement in
Section 0B (Page 0B-7)”.
