Countershaft Gear / Driveshaft Gear
Disassembly and Assembly (LT-F400/F)

Refer to “Transmission Removal and Installation (LT-
F400/F) (Page 5B-3)”.
Disassembly
CAUTION
!
Identify the position of each removed part.
Organize the parts in their respective groups
(i.e., drive or driven) so that they can be
reinstalled in their original positions.
Disassemble the countershaft and driveshaft as shown
in the transmission construction. Refer to “Transmission
Construction (Page 5B-4)”.
Pay attention to the following points:
• Insert the commercially available bearing puller
between the 2nd drive gear and 5th drive gear.
• Remove the 2nd drive gear using a hydraulic press.
Assembly
Assemble the transmission in the reverse order of
disassembly. Pay attention to the following points:
NOTE
Before installing the gears, coat lightly
engine oil to the shafts and gears.
CAUTION
!
• Never reuse a snap rings. After a snap
rings has been removed from a shaft, it
should be discarded and a new snap ring
must be installed.
• When installing a new snap ring, care must
be taken not to expand the end gap larger
than required to slip the snap ring over the
shaft.
• After installing snap ring, make sure that
they are completely seated in their groove
and securely fitted.
• When installing a new snap ring, pay attention to the
direction of the snap ring. Fit it to the side where the
thrust is as shown in the figure.
• Install the clutch sleeve hub nut (1) onto the right end
of the countershaft.
