– Remove securing bolts -arrows-.
– Remove vacuum pump from cylinder head.
Installing
Installation is carried out in the reverse order. When installing,
note the following:

â—† Ensure that vacuum pump coupling seats properly in cam-
shaft.
â—† The seal must be renewed.
– Install vacuum pump and tighten securing bolts to 10 Nm.
– Connect vacuum line -2- to vacuum pump.
2 Repairing valve gear
Note
â—† The repair work described in this chapter must be carried out
in a Volkswagen dealership only. Go to a Volkswagen deal-
ership.
â—† If these instructions are not adhered to and damage results,
Volkswagen is exempt from any liability and warranty claims.

Note
Cylinder heads with cracks between the valve seats may be
used without reducing engine life, provided the cracks are small
and not more than 0.5 mm wide.
