FRU/Component Index
2-2 Component Description
The description is made up as follows:
Component name in the form: Type of component-Function.
Where appropriate, an identification code or that of an additional attached component follows the com-
ponent name.
For example:
- Board-Compression PL303
- Potentiometer-Lift + W203
There are four possible types of component (the types are not mutually exclusive)
.
2-3 Reference
This is the ePDM reference of the component or sub-assembly.
It is always given if the component is a FRU; this number is used for ordering.
If the component is not a FRU, the reference is normally not given. However, the reference can be given
in some cases when it is considered useful as an aid to identification.
Some components have two references. In this case, they are called Alternates, and the FE can order
either component. The words Alt A or Alt B at the end of the component description identify alternate
components.
2-4 Comp. (Compatibility)
An entry in this column indicates that the component must be used only on certain versions of the equip-
ment. This column may contain two types of information; a compatibility code which helps you decide
which FRU to order, and/or cross cross reference to the Product History chapter which describes the
product evolution. The codes used to define compatibility are described and defined in the Compatibility
codes on page 68.
