6.3 Removing/installing main boom

6.3.7 Lifting the main boom off/on the turntable
– The main boom is slung; à p. 6 - 18.
– The hydraulic/electrical connections are disconnected;
à p. 6 - 27.
– The boom pivot pin is retracted;
à p. 6 - 24.
– The derricking cylinder is separated from the main boom;
à p. 6 - 21.
Lifting from the
turntable
• Align the auxiliary crane in such a way that the main boom can be raised
vertically without swinging.
• Lift the main boom forwards and upwards
from the turntable. Make sure that:
– The connection lines (2) do not hang
loose.
– The pivot point (1) is higher than the
driver's cab.

Risk of damage to driver's cab
Lift the main boom far enough to ensure that the pivot point of the derrick-
ing cylinder does not damage the driver's cab.

Danger of hands and arms being crushed
Whilst rigging the crane, maintain sufficient distance from the main boom
and do not reach in between the connecting points. This will prevent you
from being crushed between the turntable and the main boom.
