Independent air
conditioning
*
The independent air conditioning starts the
engine and activates the automatic air
conditioning's AUTO program. The temper-
ature of the interior is lowered to about
21
6
via the air supply.
The independent air conditioning is oper-
ated via the remote control for independent
functions.
The variable-flow, controlled-direction
outlets for the upper body area should be
open, see page 99.
If you unlock the car with your
personal remote control, your indi-
vidual automatic air conditioning settings
are called up.
<
Before leaving the car with the engine
still running, engage the automatic
transmission position P and apply the
parking brake, otherwise the car will start to
move. Observe the information in the info
display.
Do not leave the unlocked car unattended
with the engine running, as this constitutes
a potentially serious accident risk.
<
The engine is automatically switched
off if there is not enough fuel in the
tank for at least approx. 50 km (approx.
30 miles) and the independent air condi-
tioning is running.
<
Remote control for
independent functions
*
There are two versions, depending on the
equipment fitted to your car.
You can switch the following functions on
and off with the remote control:
>
The independent ventilation control, if
the outside temperature is above approx.
10
6
>
The auxiliary heater, if the outside
temperature is below approx. 10
6
>
The independent air conditioning.
The average reception range is approx.
150 m (approx. 1150 ft).
The best signal transmission is
obtained if the remote control is held
either vertical or horizontal. When
switching on and off, do not touch the aerial
or point it at the car.
The remote control only operates the inde-
pendent ventilation control/auxiliary heater
if it is not already running after a prese-
lected time input or direct switch-on.
<
Interference
The remote control handset may fail to
function properly if there is interference
from other equipment or devices which use
the same radio frequency.
