Press the button on the outside of the
luggage compartment lid.
On some national-market versions,
only the door on which you pulled the
handle is unlocked.
You need to unlock the other doors from
the inside via the central locking button,
see page 34.

If you wish, you can have this special
arrangement programmed as part of
the Key Memory facility.

Locking and deadlocking
With the driver's door locked, press a door
handle.
You can have a specific signal
selected to confirm that the car has
been locked correctly.

If a remote control is identified inside
the car after it has been locked, the
doors are unlocked again.

Convenient closing
Hold the door handle pressed. The
windows and the sliding/tilt roof are closed.
Watch the closing movement to
ensure that no-one is trapped. The
closing procedure is interrupted if the door
handle is released.

Opening luggage compartment
Press the button on the outside of the
luggage compartment lid, see page 35.
The luggage compartment lid swings
rearwards and upwards when
opened. Make sure that there is sufficient
clearance.
If a remote control is identified inside the
luggage compartment after it has been
locked, the luggage compartment lid is
unlocked again.

Changing the battery
Change the battery if it is no longer
possible to lock or unlock the car with the
control.
1. Remove the key from the remote
control, see page 30
2. Pressin the catch, see arrow

3. Remove the cover for the battery
compartment, see arrow

4. Insert a new battery of the same type
with the positive side facing upwards
5. Press the cover back into position.
Dispose of the old battery only at an
authorised collecting point or hand it
in to BMW Service.

Nearby equipment
The remote control can malfunction as a
result of interference from nearby equip-
ment or appliances.
If this occurs, you can unlock and lock the
car at the door lock with a key.
With the key
Do not lock the car when there is
someone inside it, as it cannot then
be unlocked from the inside.

You can have various signals selected
to confirm that the car has been
locked correctly.
